Optoma HD142X Projector Review

8.5 Total Score
Optoma HD142X

The Optoma HD142X is a great value projector for those who want a great value home theater setup, the image is fabulous for a projector at this price point.

Its native 1080P resolution gives a vibrant, nicely balanced display when watching Blu-rays and video games. Stick in a wireless device like the amazon firestick and you watch all your online streaming on the big screen.
The Optoma does a brilliant job with 3D as well, performing better than other much more expensive projectors.

Although this projector has a 3,000 ANSI lumens output it can still look slightly washed out in high ambient light settings.
The contrast for the image is not as high as some of the more expensive projectors but it still does a more than adequate job.

The Optoma HD142X improves on many of the same features that it inherited from its predecessor, but doesn’t hit every mark it could as the next generation.

The latest in video projection technology has afforded a visual presentation to rival some of the highest performing TVs on the market today. For example, while they don’t necessarily provide all of the same wireless and smart features that you’d typically dish out an extra thousand or more dollars for, they provide the same or higher resolution on the same or larger sized screen area.

The Optoma’s picture handily outdid the cheaper non-HD projectors I’ve tested recently, and kept up very well with the more expensive competition, too.

Speaking of 3D: When it comes to performance on that front, the Optoma exceeds not just other budget projectors, but models that cost several times as much.
