The Best Home Theater Projectors Review 2016-2017
Discover all you need to find the best home theater projector for you.
What to Look for when considering a Home Theater Projector.
If have never purchased a home theater projector before it can seem a complicated process, don’t worry, with a little bit of methodical thinking it can straight forward.
Once you have determined what you will be predominatedly watching and where, the projector choices can be quickly narrowed down.
These are some of the main points to consider:-
While projectors can display images of differing ratios they will all have a native ratio. If you dislike black bars on your screen you may be best matching your projectors native ratio with the same ratio screen according to what you expect to watch most.
4:3 is a traditional almost square ratio which is best for watching old movies and older tv boxsets.
16:9 is best for HDTV, widescreen DVD, and Blu-Rays.
2.40:1 is for the widescreen images that are dipslayed on many popular films on modern DVD and Blu-ray.
It is generally a fact that the higher the resolution the better the image, displaying an image higher than the native resolution of the projector may result in the pixel structure becoming visible.
It is easy to believe that the higher the Lumens number the better but this can be misleading in a number of ways. Firstly if you are viewing in a room with low ambient light then a high lumens count may be found to be uncomfortably bright. Secondly the Lumens score for some projectors will factor in video optimisation while others will not, skewing the results greatly.
It is probably best to be led by expert reviewers guidance when it comes to the brightness of any given projector, although as a rule of thumb the brighter the ambient light in the room the higher the Lumens needed for a bright image
Contrast will often be shown as a ratio, something like 2400:1. This should be treated as a guide only and expert critics reviews should be considered.
